By RYAN STAAB
Special To The Register

PLACENTIA - Running back Jeremiah Rodriguez rushed for 193 yards and two second-half touchdowns as the Valencia Tigers defeated the Sonora Raiders, 26-0, at Valencia High on Thursday night. Valencia improved to 3-2. Sonora is 1-3. "The offensive linemen really helped tonight." Rodriguez said. "Their blocks enabled me to make some big plays." Valencia dominated possession in the first quarter for nearly seven minutes, effectively rushing the ball deep into Raiders territory. Running back Wes Fletcher scored the Tigers' first touchdown on a 1-yard run with 1:20 left in the first quarter.

Tigers wide receiver Julius Macharia's lone reception was a 34-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Marcus Beckman early in the second quarter. Sonora's Kris Fierro passed for 109 yards. Valencia has a bye next week. The Tigers will face Empire League rival Kennedy at home on Oct. 13.
